What are Cookies?

Cookies are tiny tracking files that are stored on your computer to help remember your preferences, what sort of things you like to shop for and websites you have visited. Some of them are essential to enable a site to run properly, and some, like the ones that remember that you accidently clicked on a cuddly highland cow advert and now all you see are highland cows (or maybe that’s just me) are optional.

One example of how this site uses cookies is that when you click “accept cookies” on the cookie banner that appears when you visit it, the banner then won’t appear to you for a year (unless you choose to clear cookies from your browser). This is because the site places a cookie in your browser to remember that you clicked accept.

This site will also on occasion link to other sites, such as Amazon, Smashwords and various social media channels. These sites will have their own cookie policies and you should review them to decide whether or not you want to accept cookies from these sites.

Other privacy bits

As you probably know, Mailchimp is an email newsletter provider. If you sign up to my newsletter on the sign up page you are agreeing to provide me with your email address for the purpose of sharing my newsletter with you. I will not share your email address with anyone else. If you choose to unsubscribe from my newsletter, Mailchimp will move you to an unsubscribe list, but will not automatically delete your email address. If you want me to permanently delete your email address from my mailing list please get in touch to request it. I do periodically go through and permanently delete people who have unsubscribed or who haven’t opened an email in a while.
